Procedures
There are multiple methods of non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatments that can be performed to resolve your periodontal needs depending on how far the disease has progressed. If caught in the early stages, non-surgical procedures can be performed to sustain the infection. If the disease has advanced to the point where the periodontal pockets are deep and the supporting bone is lost, further surgical treatment may be necessary.
Non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease is a minimally invasive therapy used to reduce the size of periodontal pockets surrounding teeth. This includes periodontal maintenance therapy and Scaling and Root Planing, the removal of plaque and calculus from below the gum line and disruption of the infection-causing bacteria. These treatments can reduce the active periodontal infection and improve the overall tissue quality. If the tissue around the teeth remain unhealthy and cannot be repaired by non-surgical treatments, periodontal surgery is necessary.
If your periodontal disease has progressed into the bone around your teeth, it is likely that a surgical procedure will be necessary to eliminate the infection.
Periodontal procedures are available to regenerate the bone and gum tissue to their original function and cosmetic appearance.
